on february 1st i decided to go on a semi-vegetarian diet. my semi-vegetarian diet included eating/drinking things produced by animals such as milk and eggs as well as only eating seafood. there are so many different reasons why people become vegetarian. what's my reason? because it breaks my heart and hurts me to see the animals die. i kept imagining my dogs or any dogs getting killed for food. and that was too hard for me. that was my sole reason. however, i also saw it as a great opportunity to start eating healthier as well. now, almost two months later, here are the results.
i haven't had any single piece of beef or pork. i am still surprised at how well i'm handling this, especially since i began to love steak so much in the last few years. however, i did fail when i ate pho, which contained the beef broth. i couldn't resist and i did not even try to resist so much since i knew that was something i knew i could not give up for the rest of my life. i ate some chicken once last week! we went to eat dimsum and i wanted some of their rice porridge aka congee really really bad but i forgot that it actually had shredded chicken it in. so when they put it on the table, i wasn't going to let it stop me. but with all that, did i start eating any healthier? not really. i actually been eating more junk food than ever, which is so bad. i need to change that!
after this experience, i have decided that i'm not going to stick with this semi-vegetarian diet that i started with. however, i'm going to try my best to not ever eat beef or pork meat again, except, i will have beef broth in pho or other soups. with chicken, because i don't think i can go on without ever eating kaopiek again, i've decided that i will eat it once in a long while. maybe once every month or two. this way, i am limiting the amount of meat i'm consuming so i won't feel so guilty.
