another week

so the other week i mentioned that i had a headache that lasted for a few days here: http://verysavvy.blogspot.com/2009/01/tgif.html. last week, i got a headache again for two days. i was thinking, what is wrong with me? well i thought about it and i realized that i was snacking on almonds during the periods of my headaches. yes. almonds. this one to be exact.

i had to research it just to be sure that i wasn't blaming the wrong thing for the cause of my pain. and what did i find? that eating nuts can give you headaches. especially ALMONDS and cashews. after that i knew for sure it was the almonds. it definitely was. i felt a little better to know it was just the almonds causing my headaches because at some moments it was so bad i thought i was going crazy. well i'm glad i feel better now. except now i keep having the "lazy" feeling!

well, on another note, this week is d's first week of school for the spring semester. it's also his last semester before graduating. i'm actually really excited for him. i left him a note on his gigantic mousepad to read when he got home from his first day of school.

leaving notes for each other is our kind of thing. it can be done more often though.

another awesome show

24. we started watching it last night. it was d's pick. i like it a lot though. we stayed up until 2 am to watch the first 4 episodes last night. i think the heart pounding action and suspense kept me awake because i wasn't sleepy at all. we need to go get more disc to continue it but i think d is too busy trying to get his new computer together to even think about watching the show. well, hopefully he can get it to work soon. that way i can have my computer all to myself again. he keeps hogging mine!! i rather share with snoopy.

just kidding. i lied.

desperate for a show

okay. i love this show. now i know why my friends talk about how awesome it is. i never doubted them but because i am anal about having to watch movies/shows from the very start of it, i never sat down to watch an episode. but because we literally have only 6 channels to watch on our t.v. (all of which are not clearly visible, and will give me a headache if i watch for too long), i caved in and watched a more recent episode that was playing because there was nothing else on. after that episode, i had to watch it from the beginning. i went to blockbuster and rented the first disc of season one. then got the next few discs from my brother. he didn't have the last 2 disc of the season. i had to see more though so d offered to get the blockbuster all access pass so i could watch all the episodes! and blockbuster had the entire collection up to season 4 so i will definitely be busy from now on. tonight though, i was very very very angry. and sad. and disappointed. as i was in the middle of season one's season finale, the dvd paused right when i was going to find out a new secret. i was desperate. so i tried to clean the disc twice but that didn't work. now i have to go to sleep wondering how everything ended. i guess i will have to wait until tomorrow when i get a new disc. bummer.

mostly jaylen

got to visit baby jaylen last night for the very first time. she's
definitely a precious little thing. here are some pictures of her. it's so hard to take pictures at night. so they turned out grainy.

what else did i do this weekend? not much. had my brother-in-law put a new belt in my car. i slept all day on saturday on my nephew's bed. i was sooooo worn out and tired from not getting enough sleep the night before. when i was fully awake at 3 pm, i woke up to d and michael playing game on the laptops. this little girl

was observing them for about 5 minutes.

she then asked "do you play this everyday?"
d replied "yea"
alyssa said "you guys are addicted." then she turned around, looked at me and continued "you need to block it off your computer." i laughed because i completely agreed with her. oh those kids...

smoothie woothie

we bought a blender 2 months ago so we could make smoothies. since then, we've been trying to perfect our imitation of jamba juice's strawberry surfrider. all the other times we've made it was good... but i think this is the closest we got to perfecting it!! it's just not as sour as jamba's but good enough. we never measured while making it but the ingredients are...

white grape juice
ice
frozen strawberries
frozen peaches
lime sherbert

yummy yummy yummy! we've been drinking it every day since wednesday after we got the white grape juice. i like that i'm blogging this. that way if i stop drinking it for a long period of time and crave it again, i'll always have the list of ingredients that were used!

TGIF

i am so happy today is friday! i haven't been feeling too good since wednesday but my headache got worst yesterday towards the evening. i went to sleep at 10 pm. d tucked me in and told me to eat a banana and drink water. i love how he thought of the banana. a friend told us bananas help with hangovers and "when you have hangovers your head hurts also, right?" he's too cute. i bet he did that on purpose. he does some silly stuff to get a laugh out of me. i ate half of it and drank water and then forced myself to sleep. i have 3 meetings to attend today (ptm, iep, and then a tm) and then an overlap with one of my tutors so it's not really a relaxed day today. hopefully david will have everything packed already so we can just head out to modesto as soon as i get home. okay, off to work i go.

Waiting for spring

so jess had her baby last night. woohoo! unfortanately we won't be able to go visit until friday. we could have gone this morning if I didn't get such a late notice about the vb-mapp meeting being cancelled. In a way that was a good thing. i am not in the mood to sit for a 4 hour meeting today. not feeling too good to do that. so instead, i got to sleep in just a little longer. woke up at 8:30 and got some work done. then d and i were off to find the sprinkler box to turn our sprinkler system back on. we went next door to see if our neighbor had any idea. she allowed us into her house to go into her backyard to see. d went to look at the box while i was talking to the neighbor. i thought he had tried to turn it on. but he didn't. he only went to "look." i don't know what he was thinking lol. i emailed our prop. manager and she didn't have an answer for us either. she said the maintenence crew or the landscapers would know so they'll check it out. hopefully that'll be soon because our front yard lawn is not doing too great. we'll just have to water it with the hose in the meantime.

the weather has been really nice to us the last few days. we are so happy that the sun is out and it has gotten warmer. soon we can go play fetch with snoopy in the backyard. he has been a lot more interested in staying in the backyard since it has gotten warmer. he was very excited when we were all out there today and was frustrated that he couldn't get his red ball from under the sofa to take out there. well, here are some pictures taken in our backyard dated back in september when we first moved in.

if anybody knows what the orange plant is called, please tell me.

baby talk

i talked on the phone with jess last night. she was home alone and couldn't sleep. she's funny. she wants that baby out bad. i don't blame her even though i don't feel what she is feeling. it must be really uncomfortable carrying that thing around. but of course there are a lot more reasons why anybody would want her out already. today is her due date and she wasn't even dialated at all as of yesterday. so this morning she went to get induced. around 8 am she was already 3 cm dialated. i'm so excited to meet this little girl. she's going to be so adorably cute. i know it.

after talking to her though, i went to bed thinking what my life would be like if we were to have a kid. of course it wasn't the first time i thought about it but i thought about it again. each time i do i feel excited. because of course i want a little one running around. i want to play with them. i want to teach them. i want to go on family trips. i want to decorate their room. and dress them up. yes, all the fun stuff. but i know it can be stressful and a lot of work. nobody has to tell me that. that's why there's no way i am ready to have one anytime soon. we want to do things with our lives first before we dedicate it to a child. but i'm glad i know d would be a great dad when we have kids. he would love them unconditionally. take care of them. play with them. and never would he leave their side. (however, he thinks that if i were to go shopping with them, i would loose them somehow when i get excited about finding a cute shirt...he's crazy).

it may sound crazy and ridiculous to some, but having snoopy helped us see how much greater of a love one could have for their own child. he's not just a dog. he's a "little thing" who can't talk but has a big personality. well, maybe in 6 more years snoop will be a big brother hehe.

The CHEESEcake!

yay i just got done editing another report. man those reports. (see jb, i'm complaining). well, anyways....
last night, while i was chopping up some lettuce for spring rolls, i heard a knock on the front door and jumped at the sound of it. at that moment, i was thinking "the last time we got a knock on the door this late without knowing who was coming, it was the mormoms who wanted to come into our home a few months back. hopefully they're not back." but to my surprise, it was john and tanya. And what did the bring? some yummy cheesecake sampler (4 different flavors)! and some banana nut pie? we all ate the banana nut pie together last night. what happened was that i had told them that i would only go feed their dogs while they were away on sat. but only if they left me some yummy treat in their fridge. but, of course i was only kidding and told them not to get it. but they're stubborn like that so they got it anyways. hehe. so sweet of them because it was very unexpected. well, i just ate one of the cheesecake and it was sooooo good. good thing i didn't eat it yesterday when i didn't really want it because it wouldn't have been as good as it was today. but before i ate it, i took a picture of it of course.

Today

today, i feel like a lot got done. We dropped off tiki at the airport in the early morning before the sunrise. It was sad to hear her cry in the kennel at the station. Came back home and went back to sleep. woke up and had some left over ride porridge from yesterday. vaccuumed. david woke up and mowed the lawn as i took off and put away christmas tree and decorations. it feels good to have short grass in the backyard and having the house undecorated for christmas.

the rice porridge i had.

the ornaments after they were all taken off the tree and placed in a pile.

after that, we packed a load of clothes to wash at the ex-roomies house. left to their house. fed and played with tika and pismo. they're so cute. being there made me miss tika. she's so calm and gentle. while we were there, we stole some icecream, popped on one of their movies and watched it while we waited for our clothes to get done. i shedded some tears at the end of the movie. i don't want to say what movie because you all will think i'm a wussy. david laughed at me. came home. cleaned up kitchen. cooked david's mom yummy pork basil stir-fry. ate. watched t.v. and now here i am. well, off to try to get some work done i go.

Our Furry Visitor

My cousins left for Tahoe for the weekend and we are babysitting their dog, Bugsy.

So far he's been spending most of his time sitting near the sliding backyard door and barking when he hears or sees something. Both D and I would tell him over and over "Bugsy stop, there's nothing out there" as if he were a kid who we can comfort with words. Yea, we should know that wouldn't work with that one. A funny thing that happened today was when they went after one another's food. I left for just one moment after I put both their food down for them to eat. When I came back Bugsy was heading towards Snoopy's food and Snoopy was going into Bugsy's. I yelled "hey NO! NO! NO!" and at that moment, Snoopy ran off rapidly, dropping the all the dog food from his mouth as he goes, and leaving a trail of about 6 pieces. Bugsy, on the other hand, paused when he heard my voice. But as soon as I stopped at my last "no!" he rammed his entire head into the bowl and didn't stop until I pulled him away. As of right now, D's wiping their paws to get them back in the house. Our backyard has been really muddy for the last few months and Bugsy's not scared of getting dirty or wet. Snoopy, on the other hand, follows Bugsy everywhere so we end up wiping 8 dirty paws and two bellies each time they come back. oh goodness. Well tonight we will have a third dog over and we'll be waking up at 6 AM to take her to the airport so she can be back with her parents in Boston. I wanted to take her early because I know Lay and Kristina wants her back ASAP. And I know I would be be so sad if I was waiting for Snoopy to be sent to me. I love my dog.

A new beginning...2009

Although I am super excited about the new year, I really can't help but to look back at all the memories of 2008. It all happened so quickly it seems. As I look back at all the pictures from 2008, I am so happy that I have photos to remember those events and moments that took place throughout the year, however, I also feel sad about not having any pictures of other moments and events that I remember and find important. Or sad that I didn't take time to get GOOD pictures! Well, it's no longer 2008. 2009 is a new year. with more pictures. better pictures. for my new blog to maybe encourage me to take more pictures.

But for now, lets celebrate what 2008 was like for me.

In January, Billy came to visit. We went on a weekend family cabin trip in Tahoe. Snowboard. Johnny's 80's birthday party. Celebrated David's bday in Frisco.

February was very eventful as well. It was the month Alijah was born. We also went to So Cal for John's Bday. Got to hang out with old friends and met new people. For Valentine's Day, David surprised me with a car full of balloons, (baby blue ones so I can "feel like you're a mermaid swimming in the sea." lol

March, however, wasn't full of events. Things slowed down. But some friends came to visit. Which was nice. She's a sweetheart.

In April David and I were excited about Springtime and the semester being almost over. Pat, Van, and the rest of her family came up to visit SF. They got engaged =). We went to our first baseball game. It was the Giants vs. The Reds??? It was a bad game overall. haha.

May is always a great month. The month of my birthday. The roommates, including D, threw me a surprise birthday party. It was a surprise all right. Jess finds out she's pregnant with my neice in her belly. Well, here is a picture of my favorite cake that Kristina introduced me to. Thanks Kristina!

Junewas a very hot month! We spent a lot of time in our new pool in the backyard. Snoopy did not enjoy it however. As you will see...

July, us girls were being silly. Fun times it was. We used acrylic paints to paint each other's arm on the 4th. Look at that. ARTISTS...

Trying to find a new home for the three of us was our main goal in August. House hunting online. Driving through neighborhoods. Man. It felt good when it was over.

In September we got to move in at the beginning of the month. It was stressful getting things moved in and unpacked. Lots of work trying to make the place feel like home. It's been months and that haven't been achieved just yet.

October was fun. Nary and Johnny's bachelor/bachelorette party took place. MyHong came to visit as well after not seeing her in a LONG LONG TIME it seemed. Halloween was spent at Nary and Johnny's. Then we went to scare ourselves at the Dry Creek in the middle of the night.

November time was spent with the family of course. Jess also had her babyshower then. For Thanksgiving we went to Santa Rosa. Snoopy's first time there. He loved getting smuthered by the kids whenever they were awake. Lots of time playing board games. fun. fun. fun.

In December, we enjoyed Holiday parties and got ready for Christmas. It was nice to see the kids enjoyed the LITTLE gifts we got each of them. I realized, next year, I want a white christmas tree with lots of colors!
