fried rice. it is definitely a dish that i typically avoid ordering at almost all restaurants. why? because i'm never pleased. of course i may enjoy a friend's or family member's homemade fried rice; however, when going out to eat, i am very picky about this dish. nonetheless, i will have to tell you all that there have been only two places that i have been to in my lifetime where i can say that i absolutely love their fried rice.
place one: a small chinese grocery store which included a take-out restaurant called wings market. i grew up loving their fried rice and chow mein. i don't know how and where the heck all the flavors come from but i truly don't think i will ever have fried rice that will be comparable to the ones at wings. it was a family owned business across the street from my high school. although the owner included a stingy chinese man who will question you for asking for additional forks and napkins, the bad customer service could not stop me from ordering their food. and actually, i always thought it was pretty funny when he'd raise his voice and blurt out "whaaaaa??? why you a need fow (four) folks (forks) for?? you got a medium." or "whaaa? two folks (forks)?? why so many??" but the business have been gone for some time now because of the family relocating. i wish they would come back. but i know they wont.
place two: osha thai in sf. but not any of their fried rice. it's their crab fried rice that is just sooo awesome (pictured above). but they have a lot of other awesome items on their menu as well. their calamari and pumpkin curry are also delicious. i'm glad this place is still open and i doubt it will ever go out of business.

cream cheese...
since d started his job, he discovered something new from his coworkers. every saturday the cafeteria is closed at work so they can't buy breakfast from there. so instead, their department takes turns bringing breakfast every saturday. and every saturday, they always have bagels with cream cheese as well as avocados and cucumbers. but they don't just have regular cream cheese or the typical flavors that are more common..........it's always salmon flavored philadelphia cream cheese. he told me about it the first day he had it and i was thinking, that sounds goods. that's because i like smoked salmon and cream cheese combinations. so the next time we went to the store, that's exactly what i bought. and I LOVE IT!!!!!!

The CHEESEcake!
yay i just got done editing another report. man those reports. (see jb, i'm complaining). well, anyways....
last night, while i was chopping up some lettuce for spring rolls, i heard a knock on the front door and jumped at the sound of it. at that moment, i was thinking "the last time we got a knock on the door this late without knowing who was coming, it was the mormoms who wanted to come into our home a few months back. hopefully they're not back." but to my surprise, it was john and tanya. And what did the bring? some yummy cheesecake sampler (4 different flavors)! and some banana nut pie? we all ate the banana nut pie together last night. what happened was that i had told them that i would only go feed their dogs while they were away on sat. but only if they left me some yummy treat in their fridge. but, of course i was only kidding and told them not to get it. but they're stubborn like that so they got it anyways. hehe. so sweet of them because it was very unexpected. well, i just ate one of the cheesecake and it was sooooo good. good thing i didn't eat it yesterday when i didn't really want it because it wouldn't have been as good as it was today. but before i ate it, i took a picture of it of course.

Today
today, i feel like a lot got done. We dropped off tiki at the airport in the early morning before the sunrise. It was sad to hear her cry in the kennel at the station. Came back home and went back to sleep. woke up and had some left over ride porridge from yesterday. vaccuumed. david woke up and mowed the lawn as i took off and put away christmas tree and decorations. it feels good to have short grass in the backyard and having the house undecorated for christmas.
the rice porridge i had.

the ornaments after they were all taken off the tree and placed in a pile.

after that, we packed a load of clothes to wash at the ex-roomies house. left to their house. fed and played with tika and pismo. they're so cute. being there made me miss tika. she's so calm and gentle. while we were there, we stole some icecream, popped on one of their movies and watched it while we waited for our clothes to get done. i shedded some tears at the end of the movie. i don't want to say what movie because you all will think i'm a wussy. david laughed at me. came home. cleaned up kitchen. cooked david's mom yummy pork basil stir-fry. ate. watched t.v. and now here i am. well, off to try to get some work done i go.
